Welcome to the Boy Scout Troop 79 Homepage

Boy Scouts prove themselves in an environment that challenges
their courage and tests their nerve. After they've been given the proper guidance from those with experience and know-how, they take their own lead, going places they've never gone, seeing things they've never seen, and diving into the rugged world of outdoor adventure, relying on teamwork and character to accomplish what everyone else thinks is impossible.

In addition to the fun and excitement of Boy Scout activities, the Boy Scout Promise, the Law, and the Boy Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute, all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.

Sounds fun? If you're a boy age 11, or at least 10 and have completed the fifth grade, or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, to 17 years old, the time for a real adventure is now.

Harvest Fields Community Church

Troop 79 is a ministry of Harvest Fields Community Church in the Pine Level / Millbrook Alabama area.  Troop 79 was organized in February 2010.

The scouting program is challenging, action and skill oriented, constructively competitive and balanced between scholarship and practical application.  The scouting program appeals to many non-churched youth and as well as church oriented youth.  Many youth and their families will come to church for their child to participate in a scouting program that may never come for community worship.  For this reason, scouting offers the distinct opportunity for outreach to the local community.

Under the leadership and concern of a Christian Scouter, a young person may be helped with his personal and spiritual needs.  This guidance can range from answering simple questions to serving as a father-image for the child of a one-parent family.  This ministry brings youth and their families to a program where they are motivated and deeply interested in being a part of something much bigger than themselves.  Service to others and faith in God are foundations of this program.  It is true that the boys come to the Scouting Ministry for the excitement and high adventure activities and through the good turns of the Scouting Program they give service and grow in their faith to God.

Young people that complete this program and achieve the rank of Eagle are life-long supporters of a program that stays in their memory for a lifetime.  The values of scouting are summarized in the Scout Oath and Scout Law which help instill the values of good conduct, respect for others, and honesty.  For over a century, Scouting has instilled in young men the values and knowledge that they will need to become leaders in their communities and country.
